Five crystals. One Origin. 💎

Key Points

AOC stands for Atia Original Crystal. The item traces back to Axie Origin Coins and the referral tokens from Axie’s 2018 Origin presale.

Five AOC can summon one new Origin axie. Become one of the owner of the first 4,088 supply capped axie.

AOC redemption is returning soon on Ronin. Each part will have an independent 7% chance to become Mystic.

Lunacia, one of Axie’s oldest stories is about to move again.

Before Ronin. Before Origins. Before millions of axies found homes across the world, there were Origin axies — the first collection at the foundation of the Axie universe.

Some of those Origins were born during the 2018 presale. Others were waiting inside a small but powerful token: Atia’s Original Crystal, or AOC.

Five AOC could summon one new Origin axie. Each of that axie’s six parts received its own chance to become Mystic.

The original rolling experience eventually went quiet. The remaining AOC later migrated from Ethereum to Ronin, but holders still could not complete the roll through a public redemption experience.

That changes soon.

Here is the story of AOC and why the next roll will complete a piece of unfinished Axie history.

Axie Infinity’s presale began in February 2018 and introduced the first axies to Lunacia.

Origin axies became the foundation of the broader axie population. Their supply was capped at 4,088, giving each one a permanent place in Axie history.

The presale also included a referral program. Early Lunacians could invite others into the movement and earn referral tokens. When that program ended, those tokens became known as Axie Origin Coins, or AOC.

Their purpose was simple: 5 AOC → 1 Origin axie

AOC gave holders another path to summon an Origin axie after the presale.

From the beginning of the 2018 presale, every Origin had a chance to receive Mystic parts. Every axie has six body parts, and each part received its own Mystic check:

Eyes

Ears

Mouth

Horn

Back

Tail

An axie has six body parts and Origin could therefore be born with no Mystic parts, one Mystic part, or in increasingly rare cases, several Mystic parts.

The AOC roll did more than create an Origin. It also carried the possibility of creating Mystic parts.

Mystic parts cannot be inherited through normal breeding. They are tied to the limited Origin creation process, which makes every AOC roll a moment of Axie history.

On January 22, 2024, 1,375 unrolled AOC migrated from Ethereum to Ronin. At five AOC per roll, they represented the potential for 275 new Origin axies.

AOC later took on a new name: Atia Original Crystal.

The migration brought the remaining crystals home, but a public, user-facing redemption experience did not open at that time.

The crystals were on Ronin. The Origins inside them were still waiting.

Soon, holders will be able to combine five Atia Original Crystals on App.axie and mint a new Origin axie from the 4,088 supply.

The upcoming roll keeps old mechanics where:

An Origin has six body parts.

Each part independently has a 7% chance to become Mystic.

A single Origin may receive zero, one, or multiple Mystic parts.

AOC is more than a material.

It is a bridge between Axie’s earliest days and the Ronin era.

Every roll can bring a new high-ID Origin or even Mystic axies into Lunacia. Every part carries a chance to make that Origin even rarer. Every result continues a collection whose story began more than eight years ago.

Some holders earned their AOC through Axie’s earliest referral program. Others collected them later. Some have waited years for the roll to return.

Soon, they will be able to finish what those crystals started.

Five crystals. Six chances. One Origin.

More details are coming soon.

Stay tuned, Lunacia.
