Mythical Games Leaves Ethereum for New Web3 Gaming Realm

Mythical Games is shifting from Ethereum to Polkadot to launch its new web3 gaming ecosystem, ‘Mythos’.

On Mythos, gaming partners will be able to forge their own chains and “create the biggest, most connected gaming ecosystem in Web3.”

Despite achieving significant success on Ethereum, such as amassing a user base exceeding 650,000 and garnering over 2 million downloads of popular games like NFL Rivals and Blankos Block Party, Mythical moves to Polkadot owing to the network’s superior speed and scalability capabilities.

John Linden, Mythical’s CEO, confirms this in the company’s blog post, saying, “The decision to leave the Ethereum ecosystem stems from a combination of issues surrounding relatively slow transaction speeds, even with L2 roll-ups, that would ultimately hinder our scaling plans with our new games this year.”

Accompanying the chain switch is Polkadot’s forthcoming “2.0” upgrade and the worldwide debut of NFL Rivals—the first blockchain game licensed by the NFL, co-created by Mythical.

Supercharging Web3 Gaming

Mythical’s partnership with Polkadot streamlines custom chain creation for gaming partners, nurturing a unified blockchain gaming ecosystem.

CEO of Parity Technologies, Björn Wagner, echoes the excitement, saying,” We are thrilled Mythical Games was drawn to the unique strengths of Polkadot, which allows projects to create their ecosystems within Polkadot, including their governance and treasury,” in a recent post on Polkadot.

Additionally, Mythical Games has expressed enthusiasm for connecting the dots between blockchain gaming and traditional platforms by supporting a foundation that upholds scalability and compatibility with established web2 gaming norms, such as Epic Games Store compatibility.

As the web3 gaming titan shifts from Ethereum to Polkadot, users anticipate the debut of Mythos, paving the way for an expansive, interconnected blockchain gaming landscape.
