Back in 2018, the very first axies were sold in the Origin presale. A way to summon more of them was built long ago, then left waiting for years.
Today, that story picks back up. For the first time in a long while, a new Origin axie can be born, and with a little luck, it may be born Mystic.
Here is the full story, how the roll works, and what your odds really are.
AOC stands for Atia Original Crystal, and its roots run all the way back to the beginning of Axie.
In February 2018, Axie Infinity launched its presale. The axies sold there became known as Origin axies, the first ever made and the foundation of the whole collection, capped at 4,088. The presale also let early supporters invite friends and earn referral rewards, and AOC descends from those outstanding claims. Five referral tokens were meant to create one Origin axie, and those tokens were later renamed Axie Origin Coins.
For a time, five AOC could be burned on Ethereum to summon one Origin, with a chance of Mystic parts. That original system was retired by January 2022. Two years later, on January 22, 2024, the remaining AOC moved home to Ronin and took on a new name, Atia Original Crystal. The coins were here, but a way to actually redeem them had yet to arrive.
Now it has.
Combine five Atia Original Crystals on App.axie to summon one Origin axie.
Step 1: Open app.axie and connect your wallet.
Step 2: Click the grid icon in the top bar, then select Summon an Origin Axie.
Step 3: Press Summon with 5 AOC.
Step 4: Sign the transaction in your wallet.
Step 5: Your new Origin axie is summoned
Every Origin axie has six body parts: eyes, ears, horn, mouth, back, and tail. When you roll, each of those six parts takes its own separate check to become Mystic, and each part has a 7% chance.
One part turning Mystic does not change the odds for any of the others. Every part rolls on its own. So a single Origin can be born with zero Mystic parts, one, or several on the same axie. Two is rare. Three or more is the stuff of legend.
Every part you roll is a fresh 7% shot at Mystic, and with six parts on every Origin, the chances add up fast. Close to 1 in 3 rolls brings home an Origin carrying a Mystic part, so a Mystic result is well within reach on any given summon.
Landing two Mystic parts on one axie is a genuine standout, and three or more crosses into legend. To this day, no axie has ever carried above four. A five or six part Mystic has never existed.
The next roll could be the first.
There are 1,375 AOC left in circulation, enough to summon up to 275 new Origin axies. That is the entire runway.

When the tokens migrated to Ronin, Sky Mavis reserved its AOC for future marketing and community rewards. Those distributions may support community contests, events and campaigns, and giveaways down the line.
