The Wings of Nightmare is going LIVE on November 21 at 3PM PHT / 2AM EST! Evolve eligible Stage 1 parts into Stage 2 Nightmare Parts. The total supply of Nightmare Parts and Bodies is capped at 39,000 and 1,500 respectively — and each has its own supply cap. However, the supply availability is replenished whenever the Nightmare parts are devolved.

Nightmare Part and Body Benefits: Axies with at least one Nightmare Part or a Body will become collectible axies, gaining benefits such as Fortune Slips, increased rarity, new art, and the ability to acquire an ultra-rare Nightmare Body. More details below!

Introducing Devolution: Axies must undergo a Nightmare Part Devolution for a chance to get a Nightmare Body. Every Part Devolution requires one Dark Flame, and only Normal, Fuzzy, Big Yak, Curly, Spiky, Wet Dog, and Sumo bodies can become Nightmare Bodies.

Lunacia, the Dream World is calling. On Thursday, the Wings of Nightmare will go LIVE and axies will start entering the Nightmarescape! Nightmare parts, bodies. Nightmare art. Nightmare utility. This is Axie Core’s biggest release since Part Evolution. There’s a lot to cover, so make sure you read this entire article before jumping in. After all, the last axie that experimented with a Dark Flame had some spooky surprises. Enter at your own risk!

Coming Soon on App Axie

The Wings of Nightmare brings Lunacia’s Dream World to App.axie. It’s a limited-time opportunity to evolve select axie body parts into Nightmare parts — from Nightmare Eyes to entire Nightmare Bodies! Here are a few reasons why axies step into the Dark Flame for a chance to get Nightmare parts:

Receive Collectible Axie Benefits: Axies with at least one Nightmare part will become part of the Nightmare Collection, which means they’ll receive collectible benefits like Fortune Slips. That means you can transform a regular axie into a collectible axie through the Nightmare Event!

Get Moar Fortune Slips: A Base Nightmare with a Stage 2 Part will earn 3 Fortune Slips per day.

Increase Rarity: Each Nightmare Part is subject to a supply cap, which can make them rarer than your axies’ current Stage 2 Parts.

Meta Morph in Origins: Morph up to 3 parts, receive Nightmare Collectible Chests, get Runes and Charm Boxes similar to Summer axies during Rare, Epic, and Mystic Origins eras.

Nightmare Axie Adventure in Homeland: Nightmare parts will also be integrated into Homeland with their own Evolved Rating & Combat Quality for the Axie Adventure.

Revamp Aesthetics: Nightmare Parts just look awesome, and all axie games will integrate the new visuals.

Acquire a Nightmare Body: Devolution is necessary to get a Nightmare Body — and there can only ever be 1,500 Nightmare Bodies in existence. More details in the next section this article.

💡 | The higher the axie level, the higher the chance it will have to receive Stage 2 Nightmare parts during evolution. Want a Nightmare Body Part? Read through the next few sections on Devolution to find out how to get one.

The 24 base parts below are eligible for Nightmare Evolutions:

All axies with the parts above can get a Nightmare Part through evolution. However, the total supply of Nightmare Parts is capped at 39,000 — and each part has its own supply cap! Once the parts have reached their supply cap, the only way to obtain a Nightmare part is when someone devolves an existing Nightmare part, freeing up the supply availability. Here’s how to get some:

Step 1: Make sure your axie has 1 of the 24 base parts eligible for a Nightmare Evolution.

Step 2: Gather the required Evolution materials.

This includes AXS for the Evolution Fee and Mementos for the Evolution. There are no special materials required for a Nightmare Part Evolution.

Step 3: Go to App.axie and click “Evolve.”

Step 4: Choose “Instant Evolution” to see your parts right away, or wait for the normal evolution to complete in 72 hours!

Now, let’s talk about Devolution and Nightmare Bodies.

Devolution is like a reverse evolution.

Nightmare Evolutions turn Stage 1 Parts into Stage 2 Parts — but what if your axie already has Stage 2 Parts? That’s where Devolution comes in. Devolve a Stage 2 Part for a chance to evolve into a Nightmare Stage 2 Part. Of course, you may also want to devolve a part for other reasons.

Every Part Devolution requires one Dark Flame. Get Dark Flames through the App.axie Forge by burning 2 Premium Cocochocos, 50 Aquatic Mementos, and 100 Plant Mementos while using a Level 30+ collectible axie — or buy some on the marketplace. Once you have a Dark Flame, this is how to devolve your axie’s part:

Step 1: Go to your axie’s detail page

Step 2: Click “Use Consumable,” then choose Dark Flame

Step 3: Select the part you’d like to devolve and click “Confirm”

Step 4: Confirm the transaction in your wallet

Step 5: Done! You’ll be able to see your devolved part soon — no wait time required.

Note: you can only devolve one part at a time.

Devolve a Nightmare Part from any of these eligible body types for a chance to receive a Nightmare Body.

A Nightmare Body is more than a rare part: it represents an axie’s eternal bond with the Lunacian Dream World. Choose wisely, as this can be a blessing or a curse!

Normal

Fuzzy

Big Yak

Curly

Spiky

Wet dog

Sumo

On one hand, an axie with a Nightmare Body becomes 5 times more likely to receive a Shiny Nightmare Part during future Nightmare Evolutions. On the other hand, the axie will lose its original body forever. For example, Mystics with a Nightmare Body will lose their ability to put on their space suits. Here’s how you can undertake this permanent pledge and get a Nightmare Body:

Step 1: Own an axie with at least one Nightmare Part and an eligible body

Step 2: Devolve that axie’s Nightmare Part using Dark Flame

Step 3: Pay the required fees and complete the transaction in your wallet

Every Nightmare Part Devolution has a 5% chance of transforming that axie’s body into a Nightmare Body. If your axie’s body stays the same after the Nightmare Part Devolution, return to Step 1. If your axie’s body has fused with the Nightmarescape, congratulations!

Don’t miss out on this event! We’ve prepared the biggest campaign rewards of the year.

🎁 Total Prizes : 1 Mystic Axie, 10 Origin Axies, 2,500 Regular Axies, 100 Radiant Spirit Shells, 100 Dark Flames, 100 Super Cocos, 250 Premium Cocos, over 3,000 AXS and 6 ETH

More details will be shared on Thursday when the Wings of Nightmare kicks off!

Is there an option not to evolve to Nightmare Stage 2 parts?

Currently, we do not support evolution branching, and the Stage 2 part is determined by the probability set.

Can my existing collectible axie receive Nightmare parts?

Yes, as long as it has any base part that can evolve into a Stage 2 Nightmare part. This means your double Japanese parts axie can now own a double Japanese parts and one Nightmare part. App.axie will display two collection tags for the axie (Nightmare and Japanese).

In order to get a Nightmare body, I have to devolve my Nightmare part. What are the risks?

Devolving a Nightmare part is the only way to receive a Nightmare body (5% chance). This means your axie will lose the Nightmare part regardless of whether you receive a Nightmare body. You may need to evolve the Nightmare part and attempt a few devolutions.

Once you receive a Nightmare body, it is not reversible. This means your Axie will permanently retain the Nightmare body, replacing the previous body form (e.g., Normal, Fuzzy, Big Yak, Curly, Spiky, Wet Dog, Sumo). Additionally, Mystic Axies will permanently lose the ability to equip the space suit.

How do I check if the Nightmare supply is still available?

When you evolve the Nightmare base part, as long as the Stage 2 nightmare parts option is available, there is still supply left to mint. Similarly, for the Nightmare body, if there is still a chance of obtaining it during devolving, it means minting supply for the Nightmare body is still available.

Is there an event end date for the Wings of Nightmare?

Practically, there’s no set end date, especially for Nightmare parts. The minting of Nightmare parts should conclude once the supply cap is reached. However, with the recent introduction of parts devolution, the supply becomes dynamic, as availability is added back whenever Nightmare parts are devolved.

For Nightmare bodies, since the effect is permanent and cannot be devolved, we expect minting to end once the total supply of 1,500 is reached.

If an axie with a Nightmare part is released, will it be added back to the supply?

The Nightmare Event goes LIVE on Thursday, and it will change some axies forever. We encourage each and every Lunacian to prepare for this event. Level-up your axies. Get Materials and Mementos. Once all 39,000 Nightmare Parts and 1,500 Nightmare Bodies have been minted, the Dream World will persist but obtaining these parts will become significantly more difficult.

If you miss this event, you may never sleep soundly again.
